1- Yes, I understood the film more detailed because we talk about film forms such as literary design, editing, visual design… in Introduction to film and representations. These are available in Lion King. For example; hyanas live in the elephant graphyard which is very dark place. In contrast, lions live in light place. This example indicates the visual design in the film. Furthermore, females are situated in the background according to males in the film so we can relate this to ‘What is Gender’.
2- In terms of visual design, we can mention that ”the place was getting dark” in the story of Popular Mechanics. It is associated with Introduction to film and representations. Also, in the story of ”Cat in the Rain”, we can mention the difference between men and women because woman try to help cat because cat needs help; however, man reads newspaper in the bedroom. In other words, woman is situated in vertical position. In contrast, man is situated in horizontal position. This story is related with ”What is Gender”. Consequently, above this examples, we can analyze the stories better.
3-I think these two texts are very useful because we can not only understand but also analyze the stories in detailed. For example; if a story mentions the difference between men and women, we need to understand this in order to analyze the story.
